Lee County Property Appraiser Releases Property Value Estimates

Fort Myers, FL, June 1, 2022 – Lee County Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell released the initial estimates of 2022 property values today. The estimated just value of all property in Lee County is now over $173B. That is an increase of more than 30% above last year. Said Caldwell "Everyone in Lee County could feel that property values have been increasing rapidly, but this confirms the fact that 2021 saw unprecedented increases. Thankfully, homeowners are protected at essentially a maximum of only a 3% increase through their homestead exemption!" The purpose of the value estimate is to give the taxing authorities an initial estimate for developing their budgets and property tax rates. Caldwell’s office will continue to refine these estimates and will certify the official values before July 1.
