Windows based computers
We recommend version 5.5 or greater. Earlier versions have not been tested and are not supported.
To display aerial photography you will be required to install a plug-in. This plug-in is updated from time to time so it is not unusual for you to be prompted to install a new version a few times a year.
Some users of our web based GIS are encountering a situation where the GIS appears to stop responding. This problem is caused by a type of router used by some Internet Service Providers and only affects Internet Explorer. Netscape Navigator is not affected by this type of router. We are currently working with Microsoft to determine if there is some corrective action we can take. Until then, we advise GIS users with this problem to try Netscape Navigator or Mozilla.
We recommend version 6.2 or greater. We have tested most aspects of our site with version 4.7x and/or 4.8 and have found no incompatibilities.
To display aerial photography you will be required to install a plug-in. There are two plug-ins available, one for Navigator 4.5+ and the other for Navigator 6.2+. Navigator 7.x is NOT currently supported. This plug-in is updated from time to time so it is not unusual for you to be prompted to install a new version a few times a year.
The only known incompatibility with our web based GIS and Netscape Navigator is that the special mouse cursors are not displayed. This is cosmetic and does not inhibit functionality.
We are not aware of any incompatibilities with any version of Mozilla (an open source browser).

Macintosh based computers
Please be aware that our office currently does not test using Macintosh computers. Brief testing has occurred using private equipment with the following results.
We have tested version 5.2 under OS X and have not found any incompatibilities when viewing our Property database or web based GIS.
The company that develops the software used to display the aerial photography does not currently support any Macintosh clients. We have been informed that an OS 9 plug-in is being developed and an OS X plug-in is planned, but no release dates have been provided to us.

Linux based computers
Initial testing has indicated that while our web sites mostly function on Linux based browsers, many of the fonts are very difficult to read. We will be addressing this in the future. Also, we will be working on implementing a Java based Aerial viewer.
