STRAP Number

The STRAP is a 17 character parcel identifier consisting of the following:

Section: A section is typically a square mile of land containing 640 acres.  Section is the first two digits of the STRAP, and contains values from 01 to 36.

Tier: A Tier is 6 Ranges tall and runs north-south across the county.  The Tier occupies the third and fourth position of the STRAP and contains values from 43 to 48 in Lee County.

Range: A Range is 8 Tiers wide and runs east-west across the County.  The Range occupies the fifth and sixth places in the STRAP and contains values from 20 to 27 in Lee County.

Township: An intersection of a Tier and a Range, consisting of 36 sections. The Township occupies the third through the sixth places in the STRAP number.

Area: The area distinguishes a subdivision for County parcels or a quarter section for Municipal parcels.  Area is two characters long with the following values:

Block:  The Block is a group of parcels within an Area and is 5 characters long. For County parcels in subdivisions, this number is typically the subdivision block number. For Municipal parcels, the first two digits of the block is the subdivision number, and the remaining three digits are the block number.

Lot:  The Lot is the final identifier in the STRAP number and is 4 characters long. Typically, the lot number occupies the first three digits of the Lot, with the final digit being '0' and is reserved for future use.
